Our first meeting
The focus of our meeting is to understand why you are suffering with aches and pains. A detailed case history will be taken which will look at you as a person, your reported aches and pains and to screen your general health to be sure you are fit and healthy.
A thorough examination will then take place where you will be asked to run through certain movements which may ease or increase your symptoms. It is also important to understand how your body works when it is not being challenged, and this is perfomed lying down or sitting. Essentially, your ability to perform certain movements is being assessed which will give your Osteopath the ability to effectively diagnose, treat and manage your pain.
Once these findings have been collected, it will all be explained to you in detail so you fully understand the reasons for your pain and how we are going to get you better.
Treatment can involve various soft tissue massage and stretching techniques, gentle joint articulation and manipulation, dry needling, ultra sound and kinesio taping. These will be discussed with you as to what you are comfortable with and what would be most effective in your recovery.
An important part of rehabilitation is to give you exercises to perform at home so you can continue on the path to recovery.
